Knauf gypsum screed

Knauf FE 50 Largo gypsum screed technical data

Self-levelling, pumpable gypsum floor screed compound

Knauf FE 50 Largo

Application

For screeding floors in private houses, terraced houses, apartment buildings and office buildings

Dry mix ready to mix with water, made of anhydrite gypsum, special gypsums, workability-improving additives and quartz sand filler. For screeding floors indoors in residential buildings and buildings with residential-type use (e.g. hotels and office buildings). Can be poured onto the subfloor as an additional layer, as a separate layer on a separating layer or as a floating floor. Minimum thickness as a levelling layer: ≥ 25 mm, as a levelling layer on a separating layer: ≥ 30 mm, as a floating floor: ≥ 35 mm, but with underfloor heating above the heating pipes: ≥ 35 mm. Thanks to its good thermal conductivity, the best type of floor compound for floors with underfloor heating.

Material

FE50 Largo floor compound is a self-levelling calcium sulphate compound (anhydrite compound) for floors, with added plasticiser and additives. Floor compound type CA-C25-F5 according to standard EVS-EN 13813.

Quality guarantee

In line with the requirements of standard EVS-EN 13813, the product has passed type testing and the production process is continuously monitored. The product has CE marking.

Storage

In a dry room on wooden pallets for 6 months.

Install as an additional layer

Gypsum can be poured onto the subfloor as an additional layer.

Install as a separate layer on the floor

Gypsum screed also works as a separate layer on a separating layer.

Install as a floating floor

Gypsum screed can also be installed on the floor as a "floating" floor.

Substrate and drying

Levelling screed on a subfloor

The subfloor must be strong, free of cracks, stable, clean, dry and level, with no formwork oil residues or seeping substances. Keep to the moisture requirement set for the subfloor (≤ 2.5%). Absorbent surfaces must be coated with a suitable primer (for example Knauf Haftemulsion).

Floor on a separating layer

On the prepared subfloor, lay special PVC-coated paper or vapour barrier film with an overlap of at least 8 cm, and a suitable edge strip. On a damp subfloor, use suitable waterproofing with the gypsum screed.

Floating floor

To protect the insulation material on the substrate from the mortar, use separating paper or construction film laid with an overlap of at least 8 cm, and edge strips ≥ 8 mm. On subfloors of buildings without a basement, install waterproofing.

Heated floor

With underfloor heating, make sure the pipes are fixed at 40-50cm spacing. It is advisable to pressure-test the heating pipes first. The heating must not be on during pouring. Heating can start on the fifth day after pouring. Start at a low temperature and then raise it by a couple of degrees every other day.

Floor drying

On the first day after pouring, keep the windows and doors of the room closed. On the next day, start ventilating the room. The room temperature must not drop below 5c. Dehumidifiers and raising the temperature also help drying. The final drying time depends on many factors, but on average it is 1cm per week. Gypsum screed is ready for a floor covering when its moisture content is 1.0% for vapour-permeable materials or tiles, or 0.5% for parquet or vapour-tight materials.
