Screeding floors with gypsum
Gypsum screed floors are a fast and modern solution in floor construction. With gypsum screed, you get perfectly smooth floors!
- Gypsum (anhydrite) floor screed is a modern floor screeding technology that is efficient, light and quick to install
- Gypsum screed is ideal for levelling floors in timber buildings and for installing underfloor heating
- Thanks to its good thermal conductivity, gypsum screed is the best type of floor compound for underfloor heating
- Needs no reinforcement, does not crack or shrink. The floor stays smooth and even
- We have screeded floors across Estonia, as well as in Finland and Sweden
Properties and advantages of gypsum screed over concrete floors
Gypsum floor screed suits all types of houses and apartments.
Because gypsum is lighter, needs no reinforcement and the layer is much thinner than with concrete, the floor puts much less load on the building structure. The difference in weight makes it possible to install efficient underfloor heating on the upper storeys of timber houses too
Thanks to its hypoallergenic properties, gypsum screed is increasingly chosen for hospitals, schools and kindergartens.
Fast drying
A gypsum screed floor dries quickly. By the next day, you can walk on the floor and work can continue. The floor reaches full strength in 3 days, and after 5 days you can start heating the floors.
Even thermal conductivity
Gypsum screed has a lower heat capacity than concrete, so it heats up and cools down much faster (thermal conductivity), which makes heating the room more precise and energy-efficient.
Health first
A gypsum floor is hypoallergenic, which keeps living spaces cleaner and creates a better quality of life.
Reduces noise
Together with an insulation mat, gypsum screed reduces noise effectively, especially low-frequency impact noise. It is an ideal solution if you know all too well how your neighbours live.
Optimal
The minimum layer thickness of gypsum screed starts at 25 millimetres. A thin layer is much lighter on the building structure.
No reinforcement needed
Because gypsum screed needs no reinforcement, you get a lighter floor and the preparation work is many times faster and simpler.
Gypsum screed works anywhere
- Log houses, timber houses, stone houses, large, new, old, etc.
- The floor can be an old wooden floor where you want to add underfloor heating
- It can simply be an old floor that you want to make level
- Floors in new buildings also become level and efficient.
- Thanks to the self-levelling compound, a perfect, level floor is always guaranteed
Eco-friendly
- A gypsum floor does not give off allergenic dust the way concrete does
- With gypsum screed, you save on heating bills, as its thermal conductivity is better than that of concrete
- Gypsum is also hypoallergenic and dust-free
Fire resistance
- In timber houses, it is extremely important to achieve the highest possible fire resistance
- Gypsum screed floors have the fire resistance of class A1 building materials
- This makes gypsum screed a very good way to improve fire resistance, especially in timber houses
Floor coverings on gypsum screed
- Gypsum screed floors can be covered with any floor covering material.
- Parquet – can be laid directly on the screed, following the usual installation instructions
- Ceramic tiles – can be laid directly on the screed floor, following the usual tile adhesive instructions
- Ceramic tiles in wet rooms – make the falls to the drains with a cement-based product according to the manufacturer's instructions. Apply proper waterproofing in line with good building practice; the tiles are laid on top of the waterproofing in the usual way.
- Epoxy, acrylic and polyurethane – can be applied directly on the gypsum screed floor, following the usual installation instructions.
